Kora master Cheick Cissokho at the museum

Saturday 18.5. at 14

You are warmly welcome to enjoy kora music on the occasion of International Museum Day.

Cheick Cissokho, a member of an internationally renowned family of Senegalese musicians, has been trained as a traditional “jali” musician. His father is the world-renowned kora virtuoso Solo Cissokho. The art of playing the kora has been passed down from father to son in the Cissokho family from generation to generation, dating back to the 13th century.

Cheick has played with many well-known musicians such as Solo Cissokho Maher, Sousou Cissokho, Mamadi Keita and Seckou Keita. In Finland he has played kora with Aino Kurki and others.

The concert is supported by the City of Espoo. The International Museum Day aims to remind people of the social importance of museums.
