A Collector’s Life Work – J.O. Mallander

J.O. Mallander is an artist, critic, gallerist, editor of five cultural magazines, a collector and much else. His trip to India and Nepal in 1972 was life changing.

Mallander’s first art collection, based around the Halvat Huvit gallery, was acquired for the Helsinki City Art Museum in 1991, after which he started collecting Oriental art. Since 2004, Mallander has had time to buy more art. His intention now is to collect contemporary Finnish art and to keep building his collection of Oriental art.

Bilingual in Finnish and Swedish, the exhibition catalogue of A Collector’s Life Work show is called Keräilijän elämäntyö – J.O. Mallander. The publication is available to buy in the Museum Shop.
